Duncan Jones MOON 4K UHD Blu-ray and making of book

“Don't be afraid of the man in the MOON ...”

Ten years ago today, we announced the forthcoming release of the MOON DVD. So what better time to follow up with the recently promised MOON flavoured update from Unkle Rupert, and other exciting Duncan Jones news.

Over to you Unkle...

Thought we’d give you a breather on all space / Moon related things before letting you all know that not only was it the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing and the release of David Bowie’s Space Oddity recently, but this year is also the 10th Anniversary of Duncan Jones’ multi award winning debut feature film, MOON.

This occasion is being celebrated in style throughout the year with the release of a brand new 2 disc 10th Anniversary 4K UHD Blu-ray featuring brand new content on the 4K UHD disc

- All-New Retrospective Conversation with Duncan Jones and Journalist Joe Utichi
- Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scenes
- Fan Art Poster Gallery

And on the Blu-ray

- Audio Commentary with Writer/Director Duncan Jones and Producer Stuart Fenegan
- Audio Commentary with Writer/Director Duncan Jones, Director of Photography Gary Shaw, Concept Designer Gavin Rothery, and Production Designer Tony Noble
- Whistle Short Film by Duncan Jones
- The Making of Moon
- Creating the Visual Effects
- Science Center Q&A with Director Duncan Jones
- Filmmaker’s Q&A at the Sundance Film Festival
- Theatrical Trailer

All very groovy stuff, but that’s not all. We also had an incredible night at The Barbican Centre in London on Friday 19th July where MOON soundtrack composer, the mighty Clint Mansell, introduced a unique screening of MOON featuring a live soundtrack performed by The London Contemporary Orchestra conducted by Clint’s long-time collaborator, Matt Dunkley. Clint included the story of how he once spent hours meeting with David Bowie to discuss working on something for Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain! This sadly never came to pass, but just imagine what could have been. This was quite a thing for Clint who cites that moment, as so many often do, of seeing Bowie perform Starman on Top Of The Pops in 1972 as the moment that kick started his journey in music. So you can imagine his surprise at being introduced to Duncan in a pub a couple of years later and their working relationship developing afterwards (as well as MOON, Clint also composed the soundtrack to Duncan’s follow up to MOON, MUTE which you can watch right now on Netflix).

As well as the new 4k UHD 10th Anniversary release of MOON out now, we also have a MAKING MOON book by Simon Ward being released later this year (Sept 3rd - Though Amazon UK says October) through Titan Books, Making Moon will take an in-depth look back at the film’s production. It features interviews with the film’s key creatives and includes rare concept and behind-the-scenes images, as well as excerpts from the original shooting script.

We’ve also recently announce some VERY ltd edition (100 of each variant; Metallic Silver, Blue, and Orange) MOON posters from AllCity Media. Stunners, details and pre-order over at

So that’s MOON, come back tomorrow for a wee update on what Duncan is up to at the moment other than this. Busy times!
