Hello to all on Manofmusic.

The Next Day - video & single release date, theory. ( 7th of May, 2013 & June 17th, 2013 )

The Next Day was released as the 3rd single, from the album of the same name,on June 17th, 2013 but the song promoted controversy when it was originally uploaded to YouTube on the 7th of May, 2013,as some Christian groups believed the video depicting David Bowie as Jesus Christ, mocked Christianity.

However, I believe David was actually paying tribute to Jesus Christ when he played the Messiah in the video and further believe the date the video was uploaded to YouTube and the release date of the single supports this theory, presented below.

As unlikely as it may seem,I believe David uploaded the video, specifically on the 7th of May,as a subliminal tribute to the Catholic Saint, Joan of Arc and more importantly, Jesus Christ. Furthermore, I believe David released the single, specifically on the 17th of June, as a subliminal reference to The Stone Of Scone, again, in tribute to Jesus Christ.

So why would David create a subliminal tribute to Joan of Arc?

7th of May ( theory ).

Born a peasant girl, Joan of Arc ( 1412 - 1431 ) is the famous French folk heroine that claimed to have received divine guidance at the age of 12, when she was out alone in a field and saw visions of figures she identified as Saint Michael, Saint Catherine, and Saint Margaret, who told her to drive out the English and bring the Dauphin to Reims for his coronation. She said she cried when they left, as they were so beautiful.

At the age of 16, she asked a kinsman, Durand Lassois, to take her to nearby Vaucouleurs, where she petitioned the garrison commander, Count Robert de Baudricourt, for permission to visit the royal French court at Chinon. Baudricourt's sarcastic response did not deter her. She returned the following January and gained support from two men of standing: Jean de Metz and Bertrand de Poulengy. Under their auspices, she gained a second meeting, where she made a remarkable prediction about a military reversal near Orléans

The Siege of Orléans ( 1428 - 1429 ) marked the turning point in the Hundred Year's War between France and England. This was Joan of Arc's first major military victory and the first major French success to follow the crushing defeat at Agincourt, in 1415.

Crucially,on May the 7th, 1429 - Joan of Arc ended the Siege of Orleans by pulling an arrow from her own shoulder and returning, wounded, to lead the final charge, which eventually paved the way for the coronation of Charles VII.

On the 23 May 1430 - at the age of just 19, Joan was captured by Burgundians and exchanged to the English for money, before being tried and executed, burned at the stake, for Heresy. A posthumous retrial opened after the war ended and the appellate court declared her innocent, on 7 July 1456.

To summarise.

It's clear that there are several recurring themes within the sub text of David's motives for posting his videos from TND album on specific dates in the calendar year and I find it impossible to accept that it is a mere coincidence that most of those themes relate to Jesus Christ, on various levels.

Subliminal references to historical figures such as Martin Luther King Jr and in this case, Joan of Arc,who ultimately died for their beliefs, strongly suggests that David greatly admires these icons and their dedication to Jesus and everything Jesus Christ still represents, today and the reason why I believe David chose to release the video to the single The Next Day, specifically on the 7th of May, 2013, in tribute to the French heroine.

17th of June ( theory ).

King Edward I was born on the 17th of June 1239, also known as Edward Longshanks and the Hammer of the Scots.

In 1296, Edward confiscated the Stone of Scone - the Scottish coronation stone - and took it to Westminster abbey ,where it was used during the coronation of English and United Kingdom monarchs for centuries, before its return to Scotland in 1996.

The Stone of Scone is an oblong block of red sandstone was which is also known as the Stone of Destiny. It's approximately 26 inches long and 10.5 inches high and was placed beneath the throne during coronations. Various theories and legends exist about the stone's history prior to its residence at Scone.

Intriguingly, legend places the stone in Biblical times and many consider it to be the Stone of Jacob. ( Genesis 28: 10-22 ).

According to the Book of Genesis ( Chapter 28: 10-22 ) Jacob was fleeing from his elder twin brother Esau, whom he had tricked out of receiving their father Isaac's blessing of the first-born. On his flight, Jacob rested at a city called Luz and used a group of stones as a pillow - where he had a vision in his sleep.

In his dreams, Jacob saw a ladder was set upon the earth and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. After waking up, Jacob exclaimed: "This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!" Subsequently, he called the place Bet-El, which translates to "House of God". He then set up the stone he had slept on as a pillar ( the Stone of Destiny ) and consecrated it to God.

Significantly, theologians believe that Jesus Christ can be seen as being the ladder, also know as Jacob's Ladder - in that Christ bridges the gap between Heaven and Earth ( Adam Clarke - 19th century Methodist ) and that's the key reason why I believe David created a subliminal link to the Stone of Scone via the birth date of Edward I, in the first instance.

Thank you once again for your kind attention and interest.
